Osama bin Laden is dead.  Or is he?  U.S. officials would have us believe that the most infamous terrorist of our time was buried at sea within 24 hours of his death at the hands of the U.S. Navy SEAL Team VI, “in accordance with Islamic practice.”  But the lack of photographic evidence speaks volumes.  We at the Flashlight have linked to articles suggesting that the 9/11 terror attacks were in fact orchestrated by forces within our own government.  But whether or not bid Laden had anything to do with the razing of the twin towers, he was unquestionably a monster.  If these dubious reports turn out to be true, we will join the rest of the country in celebration.  But more likely than not, the truth of bin Laden’s death will be forever mired in the same cloud of war that makes the real story behind the 9/11 attacks themselves all but unknowable.

I leave you with this: Yesterday, while reporting on bin Laden’s alleged death, Germany’s N24 news channel broadcast what was purported to be the official emblem for SEAL Team Six.

See what’s wrong with this picture?  I’ll give you a hint.

That’s right.  According to this German news outlet, Osama bin Laden met his end at the hands of the Maquis.  Or, more specifically, the Star Trek fan group Maquis Forces International.  But are widespread reports of bin Laden’s death just as false as the “facts” being put forth by N24 news?  Constant Readers, we at the Flashlight leave that up to you and Ensign Ro to decide.
